Alek & Dzeneta said Yes!
We’re Engaged!
Our Story
Like many couples, we met in the workplace. In fact, Alek was my boss, kind of. The chemistry was there from day one, but it took us a few months to transition from friends to something more. Initially, we promised it wouldn’t become anything serious, but the next thing we knew, we were camping all summer together.
That first summer was magical, spent mostly at George Wyth, the same place where we will hold our wedding and reception. This spot is special to us for so many reasons, like the time our tent was flooded. Refusing to stop camping, we slept in the back of a car with all the seats down, creating a cozy setup. We shared countless laughs, made plans for the future, and exchanged “I love yous.”
As that first summer wrapped up, we couldn’t bear to be apart. Within a year, we were living together, raising Harrison, and creating our own little family by adding Bailey and Roo in the summer of 2023. We knew for a long time that we would get married. While we didn’t have a set date, time, or year, we knew our future was together.
And here we are, saying “I do” in June of 2025, continuing to dream, set goals, and grow together.
Join us in our celebration on June 21st in Waterloo!
We can’t wait to say ‘I do’ surrounded by love and laughter.
RSVP now to secure your spot at our special day.
See you there!
About Dzeneta
Born in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dzeneta moved to the United States with her parents at the age of six. Raised in Iowa, she faced challenges such as learning a new language, adapting to a different lifestyle, and fitting in. A two-time graduate of Upper Iowa University and holder of a master’s degree from Lasell University, Dzeneta has established her roots in Iowa as a high school English teacher at an alternative school. She loves her two cats, Bailey and Roo, enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and traveling. Currently, alongside planning her wedding and working full-time, she is also pursuing her PhD in communications with aspirations of becoming a university professor.
About Alek
Born and raised in Iowa, Alek prefers a simple solitude life. Likely the last person to likely to marry, let alone talk about it online. But he found that one in a million who understands and supports him. Even when life is challanging.
